OverviewThe Data Analyst (DA) assists in the planning and implementation of systems designed to promote transparency amongst stakeholders and support the assessment and evaluation of strategic priorities, accreditation compliance, and objectives related to the School of Medicine (SOM) curriculum and medical education program as a whole.
An essential component of the DA position is to provide and maintain a centralized infrastructure for data collection, analysis, and evidenced-based decision making in support of continuous quality improvement (CQI) and programmatic accreditation.
The DA has the primary responsibility for coordinating and tracking of all routine reporting and ad-hoc data requests; ensuring appropriate and timely workflow in accordance with the assessment cycle of the SOM and medical education program; organizing meetings both within and across departments; and maintaining and promoting a positive culture of teamwork and innovation.
As a member of the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education, the DA works closely with the team to promote a culture of assessment, develop new strategies/adopt new technology to manage curricular data, and assist in all aspects of project management, database management, statistical data analysis, and report preparation.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate and communicate with data stewards and data managers across multiple administrative departments to manage projects, retrieve, organize, and manage data, coordinate workflow in accordance with the assessment cycle of the SOM, troubleshoot/resolve issues to support student and programmatic assessment, including strategic planning, CQI, and accreditation.
Perform basic statistical data analyses and prepare dashboards and other tabular and graphic summaries of data as needed (e.
g.
, outcomes of student performance on examinations, student survey data, curriculum USMLE performance, AAMC Graduation Questionnaire, Course/ Clerkship metrics reports).
Perform queries and generate routine and custom reports and exports as requested from data sources including the SOM learning management system (e.
g.
, faculty and resident teaching quality, curriculum theme reports).
Administer surveys and other evaluation instruments to support assessment, strategic priority, and accreditation initiatives.
Maintain up-to-date logs of all activities related to analytics and decision support.
Maintain and monitor compliance with backlogs of routine as well as ad-hoc departmental activities, reports, and meetings.
Manage the processing of ad-hoc data requests.
Participate in formal and informal training to learn new software applications, processes, and procedures, as needed.
Support departmental committees, including but not limited to the Education and Curriculum Committee and relevant curriculum subcommittees, the EQUIP team, and LCME Task Force.
Support the cultivation of a culture of assessment through collaboration with key stakeholders across committees and departments.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsEducation requirement:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred, preferably in education, psychology, data analysis/visualization, educational administration, public health, statistics or related field.
Technical/computer skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access).
Working knowledge of data management and data visualization software required (Tableau preferred).
Working knowledge of statistical data analysis (SPSS and SQL desirable).
Prior
Experience:
Extensive college and/or graduate course work and/or experience in statistical data analysis, database management and project management within an educational environment required.
Excellent oral and communication skills, experience in communicating complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences desired.
Related work experience in project management, program evaluation, problem solving, and report writing is desired.
Minimum SalaryUSD $56,000.
