The Kensico Cemetery The Kensico Cemetery Valhalla, NY Valhalla, NY Part-time Part-time $40 - $50 an hour $40 - $50 an hour The Public Relations Coordinator in an important, visible role as a team member who interacts with media, cemetery lot owners, new customers, industry partners and members of the community.
This person provides important information, answers inquiries with accuracy and efficiency, develops mutually beneficial relationships with industry professionals and projects a consistent message of Kensico as a prominent, community-oriented, environmentally aware and historically significant cemetery that excels at service and care.
This position reports to the President.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Publicity/Media Relations:
Update and maintain media list Prepare and submit media releases to news outlets Design flyers to promote events Prepare mailings to promote events Public Relations Serve as spokesperson as appropriate Handle genealogical/research/filming requests Rotate exhibit material in Waiting Area display case Editorial Serve as editor of semi-annual 4-page employee newsletter:
conduct interviews, write articles, take photos, prepare layout; proofread copy; obtain approvals, arrange for printing and distribution Suggest story ideas to submit to industry publications (ICCFA, Broadcaster), draft text, obtain approvals, send to editor with any accompanying photos Contribute news items/photos to Kensico website Special Event Planning Walking Tours:
Event Manager Develop routes for tours:
research individuals/route stops; prepare publicity (flyers, press releases, website announcement); conduct tours and/or arrange for tour guides, handle any refreshments; coordinate reservations; take photographs; process invoices Kensico 5K Run/Walk:
Event Manager Set up and update event website; design and distribute flyers; design event t-shirt; prepare sponsorship letters; order supplies/signage/awards; track sponsorship payments; arrange for timing system; solicit raffle prizes; prepare podium program; coordinate set-up with Maintenance Department Other Events Veterans Remembrance Service, Annual Meeting, Arbor Day Celebration, Employee Recognition Event Prepare publicity/programs and take photographs as needed REQUIREMENTS Strong communication skills Compassionate, courteous, empathetic and patient with others Minimum of bachelor's degree (English/Communications/Public Relations/Media Studies/Journalism preferred) Proficient in Word, Publisher, Excel Digital Photography
Experience:
indoor/outdoor, composition, transfer, storage.
For the initial months, it is necessary to work from the office and later switch to a hybrid model SCHEDULE Flexible Part-time position:
