Summary:
In conjunction with the Administrative Director, the Manager of Rehabilitation Services oversees the daily clinical operations of all therapy lines within the department, ensuring the quality of patient care, optimal staff performance, and effective program administration.
The Manager serves as a clinical resource to other staff members and is responsible for staying up-to-date on all applicable regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
Manages the daily clinical operations of the department, including all inpatient and outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services.
Effectively communicates applicable policies and procedures.
Ensures that patient notes and charges are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
Works with therapy supervisors/staff members to identify and correct billing/documentation errors.
Identifies and clearly communicates clinical priorities and goals to department staff.
Is easily accessible and proactive in addressing staff needs.
Collaborates with other departments to achieve positive clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Makes effective use of interdepartmental meetings or committees to address problems and improve care.
In conjunction with the Director, annually reviews and updates department policies and procedures.
Selects and orients new clinical staff and plans assignment changes for existing staff, as needed, to best meet the needs of the patients and the department.
Independently identifies and initiates communication with potential new employees and/or referral sources for new employees.
Proactively provides cross training opportunities for professional staff working in different parts of the department.
Directly or indirectly provides administrative and clinical supervision for professional staff, including performance appraisal's process and follow-up on performance related issues.
Delegates appropriately and monitors progress on assigned tasks that foster professional/personal growth of individual staff members and contribute to departmental priorities.
Monitors objective standards for staff productivity and takes effective steps to ensure compliance.
Implements methods to provide regular feedback to staff concerning their productivity.
Keeps staff informed of current hospital information, including, but not limited to department policy/procedure updates.
Identifies learning needs of staff and provides opportunities for staff development.
Reviews/revises job descriptions as needed, to best meet the needs of the department.
Implements clinical performance improvements, including development and modification of treatment methods, protocols, and continuing care plans, and evaluates results through collection and review of objective data and feedback from stakeholders.
Participates in setting quality improvement indicators and goals for the department and assures compliance with reporting responsibilities to hospital Quality Council.
Effectively responds to problems and complaints related to patient treatment issues, including those expressed by patients, families, physicians and employees from both within and outside the department.
Consistently remains informed about changes governing practice and management of clinical services, including regulatory, accreditation, and reimbursement requirements of outside authorities, and revises departmental policies and procedures accordingly.
Participates in hospital wide projects and initiatives and encourages participation by other staff.
Provides patient evaluation and treatment services on a time limited basis when there are staffing shortages or disruptions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
Five years of experience providing rehabilitation services in a hospital or healthcare setting with at least 3 years in a management/supervisory position preferred.
Education:
Successful completion of a master's degree or higher education from an accredited University in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology in accordance with the New York State regulations.
Licenses / Certifications.
Current New York state License to practice as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist Recommended Skills Administration Billing Clinical Works Continuing Care Health Care Leadership Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
